Our goal here at Mother Earth Wellness is to elevate everyone through quality cannabis grown in Rhode Island. Below are just a few things that we’ll take into consideration to find the right option for you.

Consumption Method

Flower: Flower or “Bud” is the trichome-covered part of a female cannabis plant that is extremely rich in cannabinoids. It is the most popular due to its versatility. You can smoke it in a glass piece (bowl or bong), rolled in a paper or leaf (pre-roll or joint), vaporize it in a dry flower vaporizer, or even add it directly to food via specific recipes.

Edibles: A food infused with cannabinoids. Marijuana edibles are often brownies, cookies, gummies, chocolates, beverages, etc. Edible cannabinoids are processed very differently than inhaled cannabis. When cannabis is ingested, the cannabinoids enter the bloodstream through the stomach and liver, which increases potency and delays the onset of effects.

Concentrates: Also known as Extracts. The cannabis plant is covered in trichomes & resinous glands. They contain cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds. These trichomes can be extracted from the cannabis plant creating a concentrated form of cannabis. These concentrates can come in many varieties, depending on the extraction method. Some types are wax, shatter, crumble, sugar, sauce, etc. Concentrates are extremely potent and not recommended for first-time use.

Vapes: A Vape pen is a handheld device consisting of a cannabis cartridge attached to a battery. Vape pens vaporize the cannabis instead of burning it, resulting in vapor rather than smoke. Due to the lack of smoke and handheld convenience, some patients prefer a vape pen.

Topicals: Topicals are cannabis products that are absorbed through the skin for therapeutic benefits. To make these products, cannabis is infused into an oil, balm, salve, or lotion designed to go directly on the skin. Cannabis topicals are often used to treat headaches, soreness, localized pain as well as inflammation. These products will not give you any psychoactive effects.

Tinctures: A cannabis-infused liquid that is ingested or absorbed sublingually.

Desired Onset Times & Durations

When deciding what type of consumption method is best for you, take into consideration the onset times of each of these methods. There are many factors that go into dosing cannabis such as height, weight, prior experience and the severity of the ailment. The following is a list of typical onset times and the duration of said method. Please note that cannabis affects each person differently.
